For a short hop with sturdy goods that may be acceptable. For a long move, or a flat on the eighth floor in Gurgaon, it usually is not.

In April and May, and again in October and November, the grain market and the roads leading to it are full of tractor-trolleys, and labour is hard to find. If you can choose, avoid those weeks, or at least avoid loading near the market in the middle of the day.

Better roads than before

The highway from Jind to Gohana and Sonipat, and the north-south expressway that crosses it east of the town, have shortened the run to Delhi NCR on one side and towards Chandigarh on the other.

Winter pollution rules

Jind is one of the Haryana districts within the National Capital Region. When the region's pollution action plan moves to its higher stages in winter, limits on trucks and older diesel goods vehicles can apply here and on the way into Delhi. We check the position the day before a move in those months.

Fog

December and January mornings are often foggy, and night driving is slow. For a delivery in Delhi NCR this may mean arriving a few hours later than planned. For long routes, add a day.

Summer

May and June are very hot. We load early. Do not pack medicines, batteries or anything that can melt into cartons that will sit in a closed truck.

Vehicles with an HR-31 number

If the car or bike is moving out of Haryana for good, the new state will ask for a No Objection Certificate from the registering authority in Jind. Collect it before the vehicle leaves. Vehicles on a BH-series number are exempt. The steps are on the Parivahan portal and are done by the owner.
